Journey of My Art Journal: Getting Started~

I have wanted to start an art journal for some time, it was something that definitely sparked my interest. I had walked by this exact Art Journal for months at The Cutting Garden, but the weekend of the Spring Gadget Girls Retreat I finally gave in.

Before papercrafting I loved to draw, doodle and paint. I miss it from time to time.
So far, it has been exactly what I wanted it to be, another creative outlet.

I wasn't exactly sure how to start my journal. So I went back to what I was comfortable with back in the day, and that was a black art pen.
That is more than likely how these pages will stay. My plan is to copy the pages and colour them when I feel like it. Like an adult colouring book.

My first page, I went a little doodle crazy. But I still love it!

Second was a little bit of East Coast love, and the S.S. McLennon.

Each page I draw is a new favourite.

Then my first double page. A quote that I will now continue to repeat until there is NOT 5 feet of snow in the yard.
I'm sure like everything my pages will evolve and incorporate different mediums, but for now I am loving it!
Thanks for stopping by, and seeing those first few pages in my Art Journal.

Recycled Crafts for Kids & Teens~

I am so excited to be back and crafting along with many others for Craft Lightning.
Craft Lightning is a round-up of crafts of a specific theme that will take approximately 15 minutes to create, not including drying time.
I've had so much fun each time creating these quick and fun crafts! It doesn't have to take a ton of time to create, so we're trying to inspire and make it easier for even the busiest of households to include crafting in their day!
A big THANK YOU to The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for including me once again!
Our theme this time around is Recycled Kids Crafts, I added the Teens to mine....as I thought my project would be cute in a younger or even teen child's room.

The project I created are sweet little jewelry holders, to showcase those favourite little items.

The recycled portion of my project is that I used old wooden spools as a part of the base of two of the frames. Also on the bases are recycled cork coasters. The earring hangers are actually made using pop/soda can tabs. Most every household probably has a couple of these at the ready.

Project Recipe:

I picked up the sweet little mini frames as well as that cute little birdcage at Michaels.

The cork coaster base adds stability to the raised mini frame as well as a place for your favourite watch or bracelets.

May Arts Ribbon & Epiphany Crafts~

It is so much fun to be able to work with companies and product that I have never used before.
As a May Arts Ribbonista, from time to time we get to work together with other manufacturers. This time around we are crafting with Epiphany Crafts.

I will admit I have seen their products in stores, but just did not have the chance to try them.
So much fun to work with, and I WILL be crafting with them again.

Here is a shot of the goodies that came in the mail from May Arts Ribbon/Epiphany Crafts.
The Square 25 Punch, Bubble Caps and Silver Charms.

Here is the layout that I created using them.

I used May Arts 1.5 " Grosgrain Striped Ribbon and Natural Burlap String to create the large bows for the charms to hang from.

The layout is created using patterned papers and embellishments from the Shine Bright collection from Kaisercraft.

Thanks so much for popping by to check out my collaboration layout with May Arts Ribbon and Epiphany Crafts.

Pretty & Pink 3~

A quick and simple post today to share a Pretty & Pink card that I created for our niece's 3rd birthday.
She is a sweet, kindhearted little girl and I just wanted to create a pretty card for her.

The card is created using the You Are My Happy collection from Teresa Collins Designs. I added some Curtsey Boutique embellishments with the mini white shipping tag and the pretty pink bow.
That gorgeous lace and pearl ribbon and the pink twine on the tag are both from May Arts Ribbon, how pretty are they??

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out this Pretty & Pink card.

May Arts Ribbon: New Releases~

It's New Release week at May Arts Ribbon!
If you haven't seen all of the beautiful new products from CHA yet, be sure to pop by the May Arts Ribbon blog to check them out!
The Ribbonistas have all worked together choosing which of the new ribbons we wanted to work with and have created all sorts of crafty inspiration using them.

I chose to work with the 5/8" Sheer Metallic Heart Edged Ribbon.

Here a couple of crafty creations made with this oh so pretty ribbon

I started by creating a fully blinged out scrapbook layout.
I was able to go full sparkle and shine and the metallic heart border made the perfect layered border accent.

I used patterned papers and embellishments from the Lost & Found collection from My Mind's Eye.

The layout features a photo of my now, sister-in-laws engagement ring. In my mind, this let me go full sparkle on the layout. I am still finding glitter on myself!

A close-up of my layered ribbon border. I adhered my metallic heart ribbon to thin strips of black cardstock, and then layered them together to create this border.

My second project is a pretty little card created with some of the same My Mind's Eye collection.

This time, I used just a few simple strips of the metallic heart ribbon as a little sparkle of an accent.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my New Release post for May Arts Ribbon!
Be sure to pop by May Arts to see the rest of the stunning new release ribbon and what has been created with it!
