Road Trip Bingo~

When I was a kid we made the drive to Smiths Falls, Ontario from Nova Scotia almost every year. One of the things my Mom had for us to pass the time was Road Trip Bingo! My version I had as a child is long gone, so I decided to create another.

This summer we are making the trip again with 3 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs in a minivan. So what better to do for part of the 15 hour drive than Road Trip Bingo!

For a complete tutorial on how I created this magnetic Road Trip Bingo activity tin, head on over to Buttons Galore & More.

Challenge #62: Trends~

This time around at Use It Tuesday, the theme is Trendy items. This could have been any number of things on the market these days. For my layout I chose Washi Tape. It has been trendy for a couple of years now, and since that time I have acquired quite a collection of it. However, I rarely use it.

Here is a shot of the product that I used on the layout. The patterned papers were all scraps I had laying in a bin. The flowers and the washi tape also came from my stash of goodies. The buttons are from Buttons Galore & More.

Drop by Use It Tuesday to check out some more samples using trendy product. I hope to see some of your crafty projects using trendy goodies you have in your craft stash.

August Down a Dirt Road~

This is yet another layout that I created with my August kit from Down a Dirt Road Scrapbooking. This month each of the Design Team received different kits. My kit focused on patterned papers from Fancy Pants, Down By the Shore Collection.

Living on the east coast gives me no shortage of photos that would go with a collection like this. However the fun bright colors lend themselves to more than just seaside photos!

The buttons for the button border come from Buttons Galore & More and made the perfect accent for the layout.

Challenge #61: UnInked Stamp~

This time around at Use It Tuesday the theme is UnInked Stamps. Like last time I thought I would take this challenge to another level. I not only chose an UnInked Stamp, but it was also unmounted.

Here is the layout that I created using Echo Park's, Bundle of Joy Collection.

I'm glad I finally inked this one up, it's just too cute!

Take a trip over to Use It Tuesday and check out what the other designers crafted up for this challenge. Perhaps this time try out the challenge yourself and get crafty with some UnInked Stamps.

RIT Dyes Blog Hop~

One of the things that I enjoy most about working with a great design team, like the Button Bevy from Buttons Galore & More. Is that on occasion we get to work with products that I may not have used otherwise. This was the case when we were asked to participate in the RIT Dye Blog Hop. As some of you may already know, sewing machines and I do not really get along. So, as a paper crafter I work with fabric on a limited basis. But when I found out about this hop I did a little research and found that these fantastic fabric dyes can be used for so much more than just dying fabric!

Did you know that you can use RIT Dyes as stains for wood? That is exactly what I did for my blog hop project. I took this raw wood tissue box and stained it using Liquid Petal Pink RIT Dye. To create a great accent for a dorm room or even a beautiful teachers gift.

I just poured a small amount into a glass dish and used a foam brush to apply it to the wood.
The photo below shows the top partially stained, so that you could see the difference.

When the stain dried I then applied a coat of matte finish Modge Podge to seal the tissue box.

It was then easy to attach my paper embellishments using my ATG adhesive.
Then I added the Liquid Pearls swirls around the flowers.

I used a mixture of buttons from Buttons Galore & More to coordinate with my patterned papers by Basic Grey.

Thanks for stopping by to see all of our crafty goodness with the so very versatile RIT Dyes.

24/Seven Smile~

I have always been a fan of Simple Stories, and the 24/Seven Collection is no exception! I just felt like scrapbooking the other night, so I put this one together. You know what I love more than the 24/Seven Collection....my brother's smile in this photo!

Rit Dyes Blog Hop Coming Soon~

Stop back on August 12th for the Rit Dye Blog Hop to see lots of great ideas for crafting with these fantastic dyes! I don't often work with fabric being a paper crafter for the most part, as sewing machines hate me. But when I was researching Rit Dyes, I found out that you can do so much more than I ever thought with them. For instance I found this on the Rit Dye Blog, did you know that you can dye golf balls??

I come from a golfing family, they love the game and are quite good at it. Myself, not so good at golfing. What I am good at is finding golf balls in the woods. Just call me Hawkeye! So over the years my family has accumulated quite a collection of golf balls. So I dug into the stash and started playing with dyes.

Here is what you need to do:

  • In a plastic dish, pour 2 cups of boiling water.
  • Add 2 tbsp of your chosen Rit Liquid Dye
  • Stir
  • Add your clean golf balls, making sure they are completely covered
  • Let sit for up to 20 minutes
  • Rinse under cool water and pat dry with paper towel.

I did a little mixing of colors to get various shades of blue, purple and pink.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll stop by again on the 12th for the Rit Dye Blog Hop!

Sketchabilities #95~

I have found myself checking out the Sketchablities blog more often to see their fantastic sketches. Sometimes all you need is a great sketch to get you in the mood to get crafty. This is a layout I recently created using a Sketchabilities sketch as inspiration.

The patterned papers are by Fancy Pants, the Down By the Shore Collection. They are available at Down a Dirt Road Scrapbooking.

This is the Sketchabilities sketch that I based my layout on.
